So what do you think of the new speed limits along Fairlee Road?

Speed limits

Post by caulkheadmatt on Sun Feb 24, 2008 6:37 pm

Hi

I thought I saw that the limits along Fairlee raod were going to change as I noticed new signs with bin liners over them! There is no doubt that Binfield Corner is dangerous (mostly due though to children who have just passed their driving test and are going to fast in their suped up cars where the stereo and insurance cost more than the actual car!) However I think that extending the 30 limit from outside the school to the sewage farm may not be required.

Anything that improves the safety of our roads is good, but I can't help thinking in this case that accidents have been caused by the drivers themselves and not the road. Given time it wouldn't surprise me if a little yellow box on a pole appears somewhere along this section of road to pay for the new signs!

Accidents are very nearly always caused by the driver. To be fair, most of the accidents at Binfield Corner are caused by driver inattention. Or road rollers falling off the back of lorries...

My personal opinion of the new speed limits are that they are too restrictive, so there is more danger of driver inattention.

But yes, it shoudl be a money spinner. Evil or Very Mad
