Spitfire 1500 Convertible
For Sale: 1980 Triumph Spitfire 1500 in vermillion with four speed manual gearbox and its original factory hardtop.
About four years ago I paid to have the seats recovered in black leather (covers made and supplied by the MG Centre) and fitted new foams, boards etc (supplied by Newton Commercials). We have also fitted a black leather Mountney steering wheel and MP3 CD player and speakers.
The bodywork is sound and very solid. Of course there are a few areas which would benefit in being tidied where paint has faided - particularly on the bonnet top as a poor repair to the paint has been carried out at sometime. There are a few small areas of rust bubbling but nothing serious - no holes! Overall the car is very good and well worth a look. The Chassis is in very sound order and does not require any work either.
In my ownership two outer repair panels have been professionally fitted and resprayed in front of the rear wheels by the end of the cills, this has been done on both sides and a replacement metal front quarter vallance (passenger side) has also been fitted.
Each year the car has sailed through the MOT without any problems. Should you need anything in the future, spare parts are easy and cheap to purchase.
The soft top is not in good condition as the side windows have cracked but can be repaired and I will include the correct material for the repair if required alternatively replacement hoods are available from about £120.
Recently we changed the engine and gearbox as the originals were quite noisy, the replacement gearbox is very smooth and quiet. The bottom end of the replacement engine has a quiet rumble and would probably benefit from some replacement shells being fitted at sometime in the future.
Taxed until end of February 2008. MOT'd until the end of September 2008.
If you would like to view the car please call 01983 281427 evenings or 07875535688 anytime. We can also arrange for a jack to be available to view the underside of the car.
Open to sensible offers around £1,800 please
